Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to suggest that Leeds United have submitted a new bid for Josko Gvardiol, with the Whites offering £20 million plus a 20 percent sell-on fee for the Dinamo Zagreb starlet.

Gvardiol has been linked with the Whites for a little while. And Croatian outlet 24 Sata reported a few days ago that Leeds had put a bid on the table worth around £18 million.

It was suggested that RB Leipzig were also in the running. However, the Bundesliga side had offered a smaller up front fee for the 18-year-old.

And Romano has now suggested that Leipzig’s bid is worth £13.6 million. Meanwhile, Leeds have bid £20 million and offered Dinamo a slice of any future fee should they sell Gvardiol further down the line.

Romano adds that Dinamo’s asking price is £22.7 million. So it would appear that Leeds are edging closer to what the centre-back’s side want…

TBR View: Leeds need to get deal done with valuations so close

Leeds may benefit by not quite meeting Dinamo’s asking price should their offer be accepted. However, they will also be wary of missing out when they are so close to matching their demands.

It does appear that Leipzig are not currently willing to go as close as the newly-promoted side. But the longer Gvardiol’s future remains undecided, the more likely it is that a team could come in and snatch him from Leeds’s grasp.

Having come so close to Dinamo’s demands, it would be a huge blow to now miss out.
