Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Oleksandr Zinchenko has signed his contract at Arsenal.

The Gunners have been closing in on the signing of the Ukraine international in recent days.

Arsenal quickly put their Lisandro Martinez disappointment to one side and set about trying to sign Zinchenko.

Negotiations have progressed smoothly for the most part, and now the Gunners are set to land the player from Manchester City.

On Wednesday, Sky Sports reported that Arsenal agreed a £32m deal with City to sign Zinchenko.

The 25-year-old left the Premier League champions’ pre-season training camp in the United States on Tuesday to link up with the Gunners, also in the country.

Before City’s friendly against Club America in Texas, Guardiola said Zinchenko would depart with the club’s best wishes.

“On behalf of the club [I would like to express] gratitude for the effort, how they behave on and off the pitch,” The Guardian quoted him as saying.

“It was nice with Alex yesterday because we could say goodbye properly.

Unfortunately with Raheem [Sterling] and Gabriel we could not do it because it was the summer time.

“But yesterday we could say goodbye to him and [he can] move on to Arsenal.”

And now, Romano’s latest update suggests that an official announcement is imminent.

Arsenal have enjoyed a really impressive transfer window so far.

And even when the Gunners suffered a blow in missing out on Lisandro Martinez, they have responded well.

Signing Zinchenko is definitely another step in the right direction for Arsenal.

He has done well whenever he has played for Manchester City, with Guardiola deeming him ‘incredible‘.

Not only is Zinchenko superb at left-back, but he can also play in midfield, regularly starring in that position for Ukraine.

He is just what Arteta needs – cover for Kieran Tierney, added quality in the middle of the park, and extensive Premier League experience.
