Newcastle United have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface in recent weeks.

For instance, The Sun reported in October that the Magpies are considering a move for the in-form striker.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is apparently keen to add some ‘physicality’ to his attacking options.

Boniface is viewed as a ‘top target’ by the St James’ Park outfit, added the report.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has relayed some news which outlines just what a top talent the 22-year-old is.

‘Top impact’

The transfer insider took to X to cover the reported Newcastle target’s latest monthly league award.

“Top clubs from different countries are keeping close eye on Victor Boniface, doing fantastic at Leverkusen,” wrote Romano.

“He won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award three times in a row… top impact.”

Not only has Boniface won the Rookie of the Month award award three times in a row, but he also won the Player of the Month accolade in August and was nominated for it again in September.

As per the Bundesliga website, the reported Newcastle target had 15 attempts on goal during the month – a league-high – taking his tally to 54 for the campaign.

This was ahead of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane. The former Spurs ace had the next-most attempts across the German top flight (36) come the end of the month.

To cap off his October, Boniface also scored his maiden international goal for Nigeria, having only made his Super Eagles debut in September.

He currently has a staggering 11 goals and six assists from just 16 club outings in all competitions this term.

Can Newcastle land ‘complete’ forward in 2024?

Boniface, been described as the ‘complete’ forward by his current manager Xabi Alonso and would offer Newcastle a completely different type of option.

As per the Bundesliga’s official website, the £17million signing boasts brilliant qualities in the air and has been labelled an all-round forward.

Admittedly, it seems highly unlikely that Boniface would leave Leverkusen just months after joining from Union Saint-Gilloise.

However, if he continues his brilliant form in Germany, then speculation with the likes of Newcastle will only intensify in the coming months.
