Fabrizio Romano has told the CBS Sports Que Golazo podcast that Liverpool are planning for the future with Jurgen Klopp in the dugout, despite there being rumours over the future of the German manager after a poor 2020-21 campaign.

Liverpool are in danger of failing to qualify for European football next season and although they remain in the hunt for the Champions League trophy – it has been a poor season by their standards, given their Premier League triumph last term.

Klopp’s future has been questioned at Liverpool given the poor season, with comparisons being drawn with his last season at Borussia Dortmund which saw him struggle. He has also been linked with the Germany job, as Joachim Low will soon step down.

But Romano – a renowned Italian transfer expert – has told Que Golazo that he will remain at Liverpool and that the club themselves are planning with Klopp in the dugout ahead of the summer window, and the 2021-22 campaign.

“There have been a lot of rumours about Klopp,” Romano said. “The Champions League is going fine and well, but when you have this kind of situation in the league – it is normal to have rumours. But at the moment, Liverpool are so happy with Jurgen Klopp.

“They are backing him. They are planning for the summer, players, transfer market strategy. There is nothing with the Germany national team. He wants to continue with Liverpool. They are planning for the future.”

TBR’s view – Keeping Klopp is a no-brainer

He has certainly deserved the chance to get Liverpool back to the top. While Liverpool’s lack of form has been put down to injury, the squad is also getting on and a summer revamp is required – one that involves a number of younger, fresher players coming in.

Klopp has already earned legendary status at Anfield and that means he is easily given the chance to get Liverpool back to their best – and then some. He has earnt plenty of time and chances, so much so that when he does leave – it will be on his terms.
