Arsenal have just made their second signing of the summer in the shape of Mikel Merino, but their business may not be done yet.

Indeed, Arsenal may have to bring in further reinforcements this summer if they want to win the Premier League, and there’s still one glaring hole in their squad.

As good as Arsenal are, they don’t have tons of depth in the attack – especially down that right side.

Speaking on Men in Blazers, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer plans, and he says that a new winger could be brought in before deadline day.

According to Romano, the Gunners could go for a new wide player, but they’re unlikely to go out and sign a superstar at this point.

Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal’s transfer plans before deadline day.

“I think it’s not going to be a super big name. I don’t expect Arsenal to go for a central striker. There was some fear around the injury of Gabriel Jesus, but I’m told it’s quite positive.

“The idea of Arsenal is to sign a winger rather than a number nine, looking at a last-minute opportunity on the market.

Arsenal may struggle to find the right player

Arsenal are looking to sign a new winger before deadline day, but if they’re not after a big name, they may struggle to find someone of the right quality.

Yes, there are gems out there, but it’s not easy to discover those players on short notice.

Reiss Nelson looks like he will now be staying at Arsenal, and, while he’s not the same profile as Saka, he’s proven that he’s good enough to be a squad player for Arsenal.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Arsenal try to do between now and the end of the transfer window.
