Europa League side Ajax are reportedly interested in signing West Ham United striker Seb Haller with a move in the region of £22million said to be close – and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update.
Haller, 26, has managed just 14 goals in West Ham colours since his £45million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2018. He has netted seven times this season, but is expected to complete a move to Ajax.
French newspaper L’Equipe have claimed that Ajax are closing in on a move to land the two-time Ivory Coast international in the coming days, with a fee of £22.6million expected to change hands.
Romano has posted an update on Twitter. The Italian expert has gained Twitter fame for his knowledge on all-things transfers, coining his catchphrase “here we go” on Haller’s move. He states personal terms have been agreed.
TBR’s view – West Ham have pulled off some top business
Haller is a good striker and while the Hammers clearly overpaid when they initially signed him from Frankfurt, there is a striker there that can score goals – especially for a side like Ajax. But to get north of £20million is impressive.
Ajax feel they are getting a striker that if they can play to his strengths, he can score on a regular basis in the Netherlands. Indeed, he did just that with FC Utrecht – netting 51 in 98 games. But West Ham have done well.
