Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that West Bromwich Albion have struck an ‘agreement’ with La Liga side Celta Vigo over a move to sign midfielder Okay Yokuslu on a loan deal until the summer – though the deal will not include a permanent clause.
Yokuslu, 26, has been strongly linked with a move to the Hawthorns this month and now it appears that move will go through before the deadline strikes on Monday. He has been in and out of the Celta side this season, playing 14 times in all competitions.
The midfielder, who stands at a lofty 6ft 3in, has 28 caps for Turkey and is renowned for his presence in the air – but also his capabilities with the ball at his feet. He will provide a solid defensive screen in front of the defence, and even the odd goal.
Romano has confirmed that the Baggies have agreed a deal for the Turkish midfielder. A loan deal will be engineered until the end of the season – but West Brom will not have the option to make a deal permanent for the £5.3million (TFN) star.
TBR’s view – Yokuslu is a bit of a coup
Given he is a fully-fledged international and that he has been more or less one of Celta’s starting players this season – to get the midfielder on loan is a good bit of business for the Baggies, even if they have not managed to include a permanent clause.
He offers a bit of fight, a bit of quality but also the physical attributes needed when scrapping down at the bottom of the Premier League. He has what it takes to have a real say in whether West Brom avoid the drop, or survive.
