The respected transfer guru has taken to his Twitter account to say that the deal to bring Odegaard to the Emirates is a go and that Mikel Arteta is said to have played a key role in discussions.

The Norwegian is expected to join the Gunners on loan until June, with Romano claiming Madrid want a simple loan which would then see him able to return to Spain.

The move represents a major coup for Arsenal and Arteta, who have been desperate to add to their attacking ranks this January.

Odegaard enjoyed a stellar campaign with Sociedad last season and will add creativity and flair to the Gunners’ cause as they look to make a push for the top four in the second half of the season.

TBR View: A huge move from Arsenal, this could be a difference maker

Odegaard looked nailed on to join Real Sociedad but has now chosen Arsenal it seems and it’s a huge boost for the Gunners.

The midfielder has bags of talent and will play in an area which the Gunners have been desperate for options in. Emile Smith-Rowe is doing well, but Odegaard gives Arteta more options.

Interestingly, the role Arteta has played here seems key. That bodes well for the future too, given it seems the Arsenal boss can really convince players to make the move to north London.
