‘Will join…’: Fabrizio Romano has just shared an interesting transfer update for Liverpool fans

Liverpool might have only been linked with a move for Leandro Paredes as recently as yesterday, but that potential deal looks dead in the water already.

Reports had claimed yesterday that Paredes was on the list of potential targets for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who is hoping the Reds sign a new central midfielder after their disastrous start to the new season.

However, while the name of Paredes was doing the rounds yesterday, Fabrizio Romano has quickly moved to all but end Liverpool fans’ hopes of signing Paredes. Taking to Twitter, Romano has confirmed that the Argentinian midfielder will in fact be joining Juventus, not Liverpool.

It means Liverpool will need to go back to the drawing board if they do want to sign a new midfielder before Thursday’s transfer deadline passes.

After signing Luis Diaz in January and then adding the likes of Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez in the summer, few foresaw the problems Liverpool might have in midfield. However, two draws and then a narrow defeat at Manchester United – coupled with injuries – have shone a light on the Reds’ middle of the park issues.

However, they won’t be signing Leandro Paredes, meaning FSG will need to look elsewhere to help Klopp and co.

TBR’s View: Liverpool Need A Midfielder

Some Liverpool fans might have told you this a while ago but the midfield does look worryingly light when the likes of Thiago and Fabinho aren’t quite right or injured.

James Milner is a club legend but he can’t be expected to impact big games like he once might. Jordan Henderson does well but relies on high energy and having ball players around him, while Harvey Elliott is still making his way in the game.

For Liverpool, it does feel like a new face is needed, or they face letting the title race slip away before they even really got involved.
