'Confirmed': Fabrizio Romano has just told Liverpool fans exactly how long Cody Gakpo is signing for
Fabrizio Romano is all over the Cody Gakpo to Liverpool transfer and has confirmed the Dutchman will sign a six-year contract.
Liverpool are moving fast to sign Gakpo and there is a belief the Dutchman will be a Liverpool player before the window even officially opens in a few days’ time.
Gakpo has been one of the most in demand forwards in Europe. His performances for PSV have been outstanding and then an impressive World Cup did little to put any of the interested parties off. However, it appears to be Liverpool who have fought off the competition.
And according to Fabrizio Romano just now, Gakpo is going to sign a contract with Liverpool to take him right through until 2028.
Gakpo will be hoping to make an instant impression at Liverpool. He is already in double figures for the season with PSV in both goals and assists.
For the Reds and Jurgen Klopp, this is yet another step in reshaping their front line. Sadio Mane’s departure in the summer left a hole and Darwin Nunez hasn’t quite got fully going yet, despite showing promise.
Liverpool are also thought to be keen on signing Napoli’s Hirving Lozano. However, with Gakpo now signed, that deal could be on the back burner.
TBR’s View: Gakpo at Liverpool for the long haul
You have to praise Liverpool at times when it comes to the transfer market. If they want someone, they seem to just go and get the deal done and not mess about.
Gakpo should prove a superb signing really. He has a bit of everything about him and showed in the World Cup he’s more than capable on the biggest stages.
A front three of Gakpo, Nunez and Salah is mouth-watering. And with Jota, Firmino and Diaz off the bench, that’s some attacking line up for the Reds.
