Tottenham fans will be displeased to hear that a deal to see Bryan Gil join Valencia has now completely collapsed, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs were hoping to move Gil out on loan but noises emerged this morning to say that the deal was hitting the buffers and there was an expectation that the transfer wouldn’t be going ahead in the end.

And taking to Twitter just now, Romano has confirmed that Valencia will now sign Justin Kluivert instead, with a move for Gil completely off the table.

News of the deal falling through will be a blow for Tottenham fans who were hoping Gil’s exit might see yet another new face arrive in North London by the deadline. However, it’s now unlikely the young Spanish star will move on, with Spurs set to be stuck with Gil.

Antonio Conte had already spoken of the club’s need to bring in replacements if any players moved out. But with Gil now set to stay put, it seems that Conte won’t be getting anyone new in the building.

Gil has struggled to make an impact at Spurs ever since signing. He did spend a decent loan spell in Valencia last term, however, and the La Liga club wanted him back. But with that deal now off, Gennaro Gattuso has moved for one-time Fulham target Kluivert instead.
