Arsenal have been locked in talks to add a player or two to their squad before the transfer deadline.

Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and it remains to be seen if they launch a surprise move for him.

As for other areas of the pitch, the goalkeeping department has been a cause of concern with Aaron Ramsdale joining Southampton earlier today.

The Gunners have been scouring a market for his replacement, with Joan Garcia linked emerging as a potential target for Arsenal.

However, it now appears as if they have got their man as Fabrizio Romano has delivered a huge transfer update involving Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto, who they made a move for earlier today.

As relayed on his X account, Romano said: “Neto to Arsenal, here we go! Deal completed for Brazilian goalkeeper.

“Espanyol have just confirmed to Arsenal that their final bid for Joan García (€20m fixed fee plus add-ons) can’t be accepted, clause or nothing.

“#AFC leave García race and sign Neto on loan deal.”

The experienced goalkeeper will join the club imminently on a one-year loan deal and Arsenal do not have the option of snapping him up permanently.

Neto move makes sense for all parties

After Ramsdale’s £25m departure to Southampton, Arsenal were in desperate need of a goalkeeper and have finally got their man.

Garcia was the Gunners’ main target, but with Espanyol standing firm on their £25m valuation, Mikel Arteta has quickly identified a plan B and sorted out a deal for him.

Neto is currently second choice at Bournemouth after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s arrival and is set to play a similar role at Arsenal.

A loan deal also allows the Gunners to identify another long-term target to provide cover and competition for David Raya next season, indicating that this is a good deal for all parties involved.
