Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his Here We Go podcast that numerous Spanish clubs are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Gio Lo Celso this summer – and it is claimed that Lo Celso has already made his mind up.
Lo Celso, 24, has been missing from Tottenham’s last 17 league and cup outings – as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. However, Spurs confirmed themselves that the Argentina international has recently returned to training.
During his time with Betis in Spain, Lo Celso scored 16 goals in 45 appearances for Betis – as well as adding six assists. He has played 56 times for Tottenham but his form has not been anywhere nearly as good, having a hand in just 11 goals.
Speaking about Lo Celso’s future – a player that may have slipped down the pecking order behind Dele Alli, following the latter’s performance on Thursday night – Romano claimed that Spanish clubs are keen. But he wants to stay.
“Important Spanish clubs ask about Lo Celso,” Romano said. “They are interested because he played well at Betis. They want him back in La Liga, but the player is very happy in Tottenham now and sees no reason to leave this summer.”

TBR’s view – Tottenham may need to cash in on Lo Celso
Given Dele performed superbly on Thursday with a goal and two assists, and signs that the England midfielder is returning to his previous form, Lo Celso would be third choice in the attacking midfield pecking order – behind Dele and Tanguy Ndombele.
The £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder has not hit the heights that Spurs might have hoped, given he has scored just seven in a Spurs shirt – laying on four assists in his 56 games. If a decent offer comes in, Spurs might have to consider it.
They could do with a centre-back or two, perhaps a new goalkeeper and maybe a replacement for Carlos Vinicius if they decide not to sign him permanently this summer. Funds will be required and Lo Celso could bring in some cash.
