Fabrizio Romano claims Nottingham Forest now in talks over £22k-a-week 'complete midfielder'
Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window so far this summer, making 12 new signings.
The roll call of Reds summer signings reads: Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, Moussa Niakhate, Giulian Biancone, Orem Langala, Omar Richards, Lewis O’Brien, Harry Toffolo, Brandon Aguilera, Jesse Lingard, Wayne Hennessey and Dean Henderson.
However, it doesn’t look as though Forest are calling time on their summer business just yet.
On Wednesday night, Fabrizio Romano claimed that the City Ground outfit is now in talks with Atalanta over Remo Freuler.
The transfer insider claimed that the Switzerland international is “one of the targets” on the Forest list.
Freuler has been with Atalanta since 2016, when he joined the Italians from FC Luzern.
The 30-year-old has made 259 competitive appearances for the Serie A side, registering 20 goals and 23 assists.
Freuler has also made 21 Champions League appearances and has won 46 caps for Switzerland.
Back in 2017, Forza Italian Football wrote an in-depth article about the £22,000-a-week midfielder.
They said Freuler had become ‘one of Serie A’s most complete midfielders’.
‘He is a complete midfielder,’ they wrote.
‘His tireless work rate matched with his often overlooked technical ability makes him perfectly suited to an energetic Atalanta side who rely on fight and persistent pressing as much as they do flair and creative spark.
‘Freuler ticks all of the boxes and whatever he is tasked with doing, he can carry it out.’
