Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of signing Brazilian wonderkid Kayky, a player Liverpool have also been linked with.

The Fluminense winger, 17, has emerged as one of the top talents in South America, already earning comparisons with Neymar, according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool have reportedly been keeping tabs on Kayky, with Brazilian outlet Netflu claiming in January that the Reds had opened talks with his club.

However, more recent speculation suggests Man City were edging closer to the signing of the Selecao youth international.

Romano has now claimed that Man City are close to finalising a £15million deal for Kayky, with almost half of that in add-ons.

Spanish clubs were reportedly also pursuing Kayky, but City appear to have won the race, the player set to join their youth team in 2022 once a work permit is obtained.

The final details have to be sorted, including a work permit, after which “one of the best U18 talents in South America and not only” will pen a five-year contract, added Romano.

Kayky has been making waves in Brazilian football and is being tipped for stardom, so fair play to Man City for having all-but secured his signature.

He was “destined for Anfield”, according to the Daily Star, but after beating the Reds on the pitch, it looks as though Man City have beaten them to the young prodigy’s signature too.
