‘He is the best’: Fabrice Muamba suggests ‘incredible’ Arsenal player has proved him wrong

Arsenal summer signing Aaron Ramsdale has been deemed “the best goalkeeper in England right now” by Fabrice Muamba.

Indeed, the Gunners academy graduate admits he was initially “sceptical” of the 24-year-old, but now he’s convinced about his “incredible” quality.

Muamba is far from the only person who doubted Ramsdale’s quality when he first arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Sheffield United for a reported £30million, and was met by a very mixed reaction.

Some questioned his credentials in wake of back-to-back relegations with Bournemouth and the Blades.

Others, meanwhile, wondered whether £30million on an apparent back-up goalkeeper was worth it.

However, Ramsdale has more than answered his critics, becoming first-choice in between the Arsenal sticks in very little time.

He has helped the Gunners surge up the Premier League table from their woeful position back in August.

And Muamba, speaking on his Twitch channel, couldn’t sing Ramsdale’s praises highly enough.

“I think, personally in my opinion, he is the best goalkeeper in England right now,” he said.

“Some of the saves he’s making right now, it’s incredible. Everything that’s coming his way, he’s making it look easy.

“I was sceptical of him because he came from a team that got relegated, and Arsenal spent a lot to get him, but he’s got his opportunity and he’s making save after save.

“Everything Aaron is doing looks very good… when you look at the top goalkeepers in England, this kid should be amongst it.

“He’s come so far in terms of proving his ability. You cannot rule this young man out, he’s been incredible.”
