Fabio Carvalho names Liverpool teammate who’s really surprised him

Fabio Carvalho has told Viaplay Fotball that Thiago Alcantara is the player who has surprised him most since his move to Liverpool, insisting that the midfielder is crazy.

Carvalho has taken little time to adapt to life at Anfield. Obviously, the 20-year-old is still a work in progress. But he does not look out of place in Jurgen Klopp’s side. He has already scored twice in eight Premier League appearances for the Reds.

Some would perhaps say that he has been a surprise package for Liverpool so far. However, Carvalho picked out another name who he has been taken aback by since joining the club.

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash with West Ham, the attacking midfielder was asked if there was a player who had surprised him since his arrival. And after giving the question much thought, he opted for the Spaniard.

“Thiago. Thiago is class. Yeah, he’s crazy,” he told Viaplay Fotball.

Of course, it is hard to imagine that Carvalho ever doubted Thiago in the way some of his critics seemed to during the early stages of his time with Liverpool.

The 31-year-old arrived with a massive reputation. And it seemed that some were only too happy to criticise him when he took a little time to settle in on Merseyside.

But Thiago has emphatically silenced his critics and doubters.

He comes across the kind of player who will be receiving plaudits from players long after he has hung up his boots. Thiago is so mesmeric to watch at times. And he has proved to be an inspired signing for Liverpool.

Perhaps the only shock is that Carvalho was surprised by just how good Thiago actually is.
