'Difficult to stop': Fabio Capello raves about Tottenham player who is so hard to defend against

Former England boss Fabio Capello has told Sky Sports News that Tottenham star Harry Kane was the most important player as the Three Lions beat Iran.

Gareth Southgate oversaw a 6-2 win against the tournament minnows but talisman Kane wasn’t among the goals.

Bukayo Saka scored twice with Jude Bellingham, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling all among the goals.

Kane’s overall play was magnificent though and the Tottenham man does so much more than score goals.

The 29-year-old is England’s captain and that role is something that he clearly cares very deeply about.

Kane will also be eyeing up another golden boot, however, and he won’t want to endure many more goalless games.

Capello has been quick to praise the Tottenham star though and believes he was the most important England player against Iran.

He told Sky Sports News: “Kane’s movement on the pitch is really intelligent and he’s the one player that the other team has to control a lot.

“This is the player for me that I think was the most important in this England team.

“He played in the similar position yesterday that he does for Tottenham and when he plays there, it’s difficult to stop him.”

Capello says Kane was most important player for England

Clearly, England’s chances of winning the competition will hinge on the form of Kane.

He’s closing in on Wayne Rooney’s record and is one of the most feared marksmen in world football at his best.

As he’s got older, however, Kane’s game isn’t just about the goals he scores.

Yesterday he led by example on the field and left the field after 76 minutes with a couple of assists to his name.

As a model professional, Kane will know that as long as the team are winning games of football it doesn’t really matter.

Goals are his thing but ultimately, he’s proving that he’s capable of contributing in other ways.

Capello is right to call Kane the most important player from yesterday and he proved a real handful for Iran despite failing to find the net.
