Liverpool were beaten for the first time in the Premier League on Thursday night.
The Reds suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola’s men cutting the gap back down to four points at the top of the table.

The pulsating game saw City take the lead through Sergio Aguero, before Liverpool equalised thanks to Roberto Firmino.
Winger Leroy Sane then struck on 72 minutes and the Citizens weathered a late storm to take the three points.
Jurgen Klopp gambled with a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum, with Fabinho left on the bench.

The Brazilian came on for Milner in the second half and quickly set about proving that he perhaps should have started.
Fabinho can learn from the master
Although Fabinho wasn’t on the pitch all that long, he will likely have noticed how well his compatriot Fernandinho played on the night.
City’s lynchpin was sensational for the hosts and seemed to be everywhere mopping up the danger.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk star produced a stunning display full of tackles, interceptions and ball recoveries.

Fernandinho is still very much at the top of his game and is arguably the best holding midfielder in the Premier League.
Having only just pitched up in English football, Liverpool’s Fabinho simply must watch how he plays to develop his own game.
He should aspire to reach Fernandinho’s level as he has truly set the bar – Fabinho’s certainly made a brilliant start though and early comparisons can definitely be made between the two.
