Kalvin Phillips has posted on Instagram after starring in Leeds United’s excellent 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road, which sees the Whites return to the top of the table – and both Fabian Delph and Jack Clarke have reacted.
Phillips, 24, clocked up his 33rd Championship appearance of the season as Leeds strolled past Fulham. The Whites got off to a stunning start, as Helder Costa squared for Patrick Bamford to find the back of the net first time.
Fulham put Leeds under huge pressure during the remainder of the first half, but Gjanni Alioski came on at half-time to score – after Marcelo Bielsa made two changes during the break. A third came with 20 minutes left, as Jack Harrison raced through to score.
Phillips was excellent at the base of the midfield, keeping Tom Cairney quiet throughout the match. The win sees Leeds return to the top of the table, after West Brom dropped points. Phillips posted on Instagram after the emphatic win.
With seven league games to play, Leeds have climbed to first – three ahead of West Brom but more importantly for Leeds, eight ahead of third-placed Brentford. The Bees earned a crucial 1-0 win over Slaven Bilic’s Baggies on Friday night.
Everton midfielder Fabian Delph and Tottenham winter Jack Clarke – on loan at QPR – are both products of the Leeds academy and seemingly keen to see the Whites return to the top flight. They responded to Phillips’ post.
