Right-Forward: Chris Maguire (Oxford United)

Scottish forward Maguire led the line wonderfully against Middlesbrough, proving a menace for the defence throughout. He orchestrated the visitors’ comeback into the game, scoring a peach of a free-kick to get the U’s back within a goal of their Premier League opponents before Martinez’s equaliser brought the travelling Yellows to their feet. At full-time, Maguire looked crestfallen, a mark of the work-rate and passion that had gone into this game.

Centre-Forward: Matt Rhead (Lincoln City)

Getting the better of any Premier League defender deserves due credit in the FA Cup, but doing so against Michael Keane, one of England’s most promising youngsters, is some achievement.

Keane struggled to deal with 32-year-old Rhead’s presence in the Lincoln frontline, and he used his height and strength well, winning 16 aerial duels to relieve the pressure from his side and help them get up the pitch before making a nuisance of himself in the box in the build-up to Raggett’s late winner. He also did well to not get lured into reacting to Joey Barton’s attempts to con the referee, since he was a big performer for his team on the day and would’ve left his side up against it in the event of a red-card.

Left-Forward: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

Harry Kane just loves London derbies. His latest hat-trick against Fulham ensured he reached 20 goals in 22 outings against London clubs in all competitions, and his performance at Craven Cottage was deserving of it. Sharp, clinical and an imposing presence, the hosts just couldn’t get to grips with shackling him, and so it proved their downfall.

Honourable Mentions: Roarie Deacon & Wayne Shaw (Sutton United)

Roarie Deacon has been one of Sutton’s stand-out players during their momentous run to Round Five of the FA Cup, the highlights of which include a quite remarkable strike against AFC Wimbledon in Round Three. However, in Round Five, the 25-year-old would face off against Arsenal, the club where he began his football career in 2008. Out to prove a point, the midfielder gave the Gunners a torrid time despite not getting on the scoresheet, with an energetic performance for the hosts at Gander Green Lane, which he almost crowned with a quite stunning goal after his long-range snapshot rattled the crossbar. He was also voted as BBC Sport’s Fans’ Man of the Match for his performance.

Another highlight of the night was the antics of Sutton’s hefty reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw. The closest he came to getting onto the pitch was a promotional video in which he saved three penalties against former Arsenal star Ian Wright, but the footage that emerged on social media of him in the club’s bar at half-time before being caught on camera eating on the bench during the second half were just too good not to mention.
