To say Aston Villa fans are in dreamland at the moment would be something of an understatement.
The Villans have won all four of their games this season and go into the clash with Leeds on Friday knowing a win can take them to the top of the Premier League table.
The likes of Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings, and Ross Barkley have been instrumental in helping Villa achieve success so far this season. All three, experienced and quality players at international level, have formed the base for success for Dean Smith.
However, while the debate will rumble on over Gareth Southgate’s bizarre decision to keep finding ways to leave Grealish out of proceedings, another Villa player might be knocking on the door soon enough.
That man is Ezri Konsa, who has been nothing short of sensational this season for the Villa.
Naturally, it is Mings who gets a lot of the praise from outside of Villa Park. The big defender has been exceptional and, rightly, gets plenty of plaudits from fans and pundits alike.
But this season has seen Konsa emerge from the shadows to become almost as, if not more, integral to the Villa cause then Mings.
Those who watch Villa regularly will know that Konsa has been nothing short of sensational. Strong, quick, and athletic, he has all the hallmarks of a modern centre-half and is no slouch on the ball either.
With Harry Maguire still trying to get over a nightmare few months and Southgate using make-shift players at times for the Three Lions, surely Konsa has to be within a chance of landing a place in the squad?
He’s already on the international radar following his caps for the under-21s, so there’s little reason for the FA to not be sitting up and taking note.
With three fixtures in November and Southgate once saying he’d pick on form as well as reputation, the time has never been better for Konsa to get the nod for his country.
