Ezgjan Alioski praises 'one-off' Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa despite transfer rumours
Ezgjan Alioski has heaped praise on Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa and claimed that the Argentine coach is unique.
Speaking to FIFA’s official website, the North Macedonian international was full of positive words for his manager at club level, with Alioski featuring heavily for Leeds this season in their first season back in the Premier League in 16 years.
Leeds currently find themselves in 10th position with three games of the season left to play, with the Yorkshire side blowing expectations out of the water following their promotion to the Premier League from the Championship last year, and for Alioski, Bielsa is a special manager who cannot be compared to anyone else.
The 29-year-old full-back said when asked if they were any similarities between Bielsa and national team manager Igor Angelovski: “It’s tough to compare the two because they have their own philosophies and personalities, and the job of coaching a national team is quite different to coaching a club. Plus, Bielsa is special, you cannot compare him to anyone else because he’s a one-off.”
TBR View: Alioski’s comments prove Leeds were right to take risk on Bielsa
Although Alioski is reportedly set to leave Leeds this summer as reported by FotoMac, the Balkan defender’s comments on Bielsa prove that the Elland Road side were bang on the money with taking a risk with the manager dubbed ‘El Loco’.
Alioski, who is reportedly on £15,000-a-week according to Spotrac, has flourished into a solid defender since joining the club in 2017 from FC Lugano, and although his future might not lie with Leeds, his story and development show that the Yorkshire club have evolved in the right direction under Bielsa and that more players will likely elevate their game under the Argentine coach in the coming years.
