Roy Keane has told Sky Sports – as per Football Daily – that Liverpool’s blip in form has contributed to Manchester City and Manchester United’s return to form, as it has given the Manchester clubs belief of a potential title battle.

Liverpool have won just two of their last six Premier League games – drawing with Fulham, West Brom and Newcastle. While the Reds cruised past Palace and narrowly beat Tottenham, they have also lost to Southampton.

Liverpool remain top but only on goal difference – with United boasting a game in hand. The entire top half are only separated by seven points and while many feel Liverpool, City and United are in a title race, others could be too.

Keane was asked if he felt city have a chance of winning the title, after previously stating he thinks Liverpool would win the league. He feels they do, and that Liverpool’s performances have contributed to City and United improving.

“Liverpool’s performances have, yeah,” Keane said, when asked if he has changed his opinion about Manchester City’s title prospects. “City’s last few performances are telling me that they have got the eye of the tiger back.

“What will encourage City and even Man United is that Liverpool are having a little blip. The hunger is back, there was never a question about quality, but the quality they have and their manager, of course they can win the title.”

TBR’s view – Do not discount Tottenham, either

Or Leicester City, or even Chelsea if they can get back to normal form. This season is shaping up to be one of the most-exciting Premier League seasons in years, with so many teams in the mix at the near-halfway stage.

What will prove to be crucial in the second half of the season will be squad depth. Liverpool are already relying on that given their injuries, but with a frantic timetable only set to increase, cover is crucial.

The winners will be whoever has the best depth, and certainly those at the top end have that.
