Newcastle are reportedly close to appointing Eddie Howe as their new manager, with the former Bournemouth boss set to replace Steve Bruce at St James’ Park.
Howe is expected to be named as the new manager for the Magpies and will be tasked with steering the club clear of relegation trouble. He is expected to bring his own coaching staff with him, including former Cherries boss, Jason Tindall.

The 43-year-old has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth back in the summer of 2020. He was linked with the Celtic job in the summer, but talks broke down at the Scottish giants. However, he appears on course to land the job in Newcastle.
And former England and Newcastle striker, Michael Owen, believes the Toon are making a good decision in appointing Howe as their new man.
Taking to Twitter, Owen shared his thoughts on Howe to Newcastle and believes the club are making a ‘very smart’ decision.
Howe led Bournemouth to an unlikely journey to the Premier League after the club almost folded in the lower leagues. From there, he kept them in the top flight until they were finally relegated two seasons ago.
TBR’s View: Howe to Newcastle steady but risky appointment
It’s hardly the big name some Newcastle fans were expecting. Nor is it the sort of name who is well-known for getting teams out of the mire.
However, despite those two things, the appointment of Howe is a sensible enough approach from PIF. He has Premier League experience already and, if the worst did happen and they went down, is well-placed to bring them back up.
Above all else though, Howe needs players. He needs new blood through the door in January and they need to be the right sort of character and talent. He will probably get some new faces, but it’s crucial he gets the right ones.
