'Extremely fast': Arsenal now reportedly want to sign 26-year-old Bernd Leno says is absolutely rapid
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has already given his verdict on Timo Werner, who the Gunners reportedly want to sign.
According to Defensa Central, the Gunners are mulling over a move for Chelsea forward Werner.
That said, German outlet Bild claim Werner’s former club RB Leizpig are considering a loan swoop to bring him back this summer.
That would require a wage cut, which Werner is apparently willing to take, but it seems Arsenal are also eyeing an ambitions cross-London swoop.
Leno verdict on Arsenal target Werner
Speaking to Sky Germany, when Werner made his move from Leizpig to Chelsea in 2020, Leno said: “Chelsea is a great choice, no question about it.
“The Premier League is faster, more physical. But I think he’s good for it.
“Timo is an extremely fast player.”
Werner has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League and it would be a gamble if Arsenal took him on this summer.
David Luiz and Willian coming in from Chelsea did not work, and although that is not to say Werner would not, it offers a cautionary tale.
European champions Real Madrid are apparently also eyeing the Germany international, which indicates the talent Werner has, but it has not been unlocked in England.
Newcastle United have also previously been linked to the 53-cap ace, and perhaps a gamble on Werner to spearhead their new regime would make more sense.
Either way, Werner is a talented player and a hard worker who has lost his way and needs to find it somehow this coming season.
