Florian Wirtz may have endured a difficult start to life at Liverpool, but he has been tipped to go on to achieve something extraordinary at Anfield.
Wirtz joined Liverpool in a £116million deal from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, but he is yet to score his first goal or record an assist in the Premier League.
Although the club then shattered the British transfer record again to snap up Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, all eyes remain on Florian Wirtz as he looks to adjust to the pace of the top-flight.
Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is confident he will come good, and now, an expert has claimed he will go on to reach heights only matched by Michael Owen on Merseyside.

Florian Wirtz tipped to win the Ballon d’Or at Liverpool
Michael Owen infamously won the Ballon d’Or while at Liverpool in 2001, beating Real Madrid legend Raul to the prestigious honour after scoring 24 goals in 46 Premier League games over the calendar year.
No other player in the club’s history has emerged victorious since, but TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey is confident Wirtz is good enough to end that drought.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Beyond The Back Four podcast, Bailey said: “I think it was a phenomenal window and the main two for me were Alexander Isak and Wirtz, getting those two in.
“You know, again, we haven’t seen the best of Wirtz yet. But Wirtz is a potential Ballon d’Or winner, and Isak’s as good as any striker in the world. I think we need to differentiate between some of the signings.
“So, I think those two are just world-class.”
Owen, of course, scored an impressive 158 goals in total for Liverpool over his eight-year stint at Anfield, and also earned 89 caps for England.
Florian Wirtz badly needs Liverpool confidence boost
Wirtz will adapt to the relentless nature of the Premier League in time, but until then, he just needs something to go his way, whether that’s a lucky deflected shot or a world-class assist.
He was afforded no reprieve on international duty with Germany, either.
Despite his country picking up maximum points after beating Luxembourg and Northern Ireland, and taking a giant stride closer to the World Cup, Wirtz was not able to make an impact.
After taking to Instagram off the back of a positive camp to declare the break had been “successful”, he now returns to club duties, still in search of that first magical moment.
