Fabrizio Romano has told Anfield Watch that he expects Liverpool to make a surprise signing this summer.
Liverpool have made one signing so far with Ibrahima Konate arriving in the early part of the transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have also been linked with a whole host of names in recent weeks across multiple positions.
But Romano says that Liverpool’s board are keeping the names of potential targets fairly close to their chest.
And the transfer journalist thinks that Liverpool may have a shock signing in store for their supporters.
“Expect them to make some surprise. If you asked me last summer in June or July whether Liverpool will sign Diogo Jota I would never say that was a done deal or close,” Romano said.
“I like this style because it’s difficult for journalists, but it’s great for the club and for the strategy. I expect something surprising also this summer from Liverpool.”

Edwards getting to work?
Michael Edwards is widely praised for the transfer work that he has done at Anfield.
Liverpool’s late move to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves last summer was heralded, as the Portuguese international made a big impact in his first season on Merseyside.
If Liverpool could pull off a similarly impressive transfer this time around then it could add depth to their squad, which will be crucial to give Klopp options to rotate.
Klopp may well be looking for a new forward and midfielder this summer, as his side look to regain the Premier League crown next term, and the latest update will keep Reds fans intrigued over who those targets may be.
