Danny Murphy has suggested that he cannot see Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson leaving on BBC Sport.
Henderson sticking around?
Henderson’s future at Liverpool has unexpectedly come under question this summer, with his contractual situation not sorted.
Henderson has just two years left on his current deal at Anfield, and the Athletic suggest that the Reds are yet to offer the £20 million man (BBC Sport) terms which are acceptable.
There are now fears that he could depart Merseyside in a similar manner to Georginio Wijnaldum.
But Murphy just cannot see the Liverpool captain going anywhere else.
“It is hugely important that Liverpool get Jordan Henderson’s contract situation sorted out,” Murphy said.
“They have already lost Georginio Wijnaldum, who has been under-rated for the past few years. I do expect Henderson to stay, because he has been so pivotal to their success, but they need to put those concerns to bed quickly. Losing both now would be unthinkable.”

Influential Henderson
If Henderson was to put pen to paper on a new contract at Liverpool it would be a huge boost.
Henderson is an influential figure both on and off the field for the Reds now.
The England international has really led by example in recent seasons, and is widely regarded as one of the finest captains in the Premier League.
Henderson may not be fit enough to feature for Liverpool on opening day weekend though, when they are due to take on Norwich City.
