Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has revealed he has already had ‘plenty of talks’ with the club, as he seeks to leave St. James’ Park.
The 24-year-old has wanted away from the Toon Army since the start of the season for family reasons.
Hayden has unable to secure his departure in each of the last two transfer windows, but performed admirably for the Magpies.
He broke into the starting XI at the expense of the injured Jonjo Shelvey, and struck up an excellent partnership with Sean Longstaff before the youngster got injured.
He became a very important player for the club, and most fans will be sorry to see him leave.
Providing an update on the situation, he told Chronicle Live: “It’s the same as always. We will see what happens in the summer but I have had plenty of talks with the club in the last couple of weeks.
“The signs have been very positive. I’ll see what happens.”
It would very much appear that Hayden will get his wish to leave the club this summer.
He really showed some excellent form in the second half of 2018/19 and will be a big loss – that said, Newcastle cannot hope to keep a player who doesn’t fully want to be there.
The club have placed a £20 million valuation on Hayden (via The Telegraph), and it will be great business if they can get close to that figure.
