In our exclusive poll, The Boot Room has found that 59% of Chelsea fans want the club to seal a deal to bring Fernando Llorente to Stamford Bridge in exchange for Michy Batshuayi on loan, but 41% would prefer to keep hold of the Belgian for the remainder of the season.
A deal has been rumoured since the start of the January transfer window and could now be accelerated with Diego Costa sidelined, with the club claiming a back injury and many media outlets claiming that it is the aftermath of a row between Costa and Antonio Conte after a reported bid from China.
In Costa’s absence for the game against Leicester City this weekend, Willian was again preferred to take his place in a front three rather than to give Batshuayi his first Premier League start since a big money move to London from France this summer, with the 23-year-old turning down the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace to join the west end outfit.
Now, it seems that the majority of Chelsea fans would be happy to see him leave if it meant the arrival of Swansea striker Fernando Llorente. The Spaniard has impressed since joining the Welsh outfit from Sevilla in the summer and is also said to be attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Whilst it seems that the club are set to make a choice between the two, they are very different kind of player with Llorente offering much more of a physical threat than Batshuayi, who possesses more pace and skill on the ball. What is clear is that Blues fans and Antonio Conte seem to share the opinion that the Belgian is not the option that the club need to keep their title hopes on track, and that the former Juventus man could be the man to fire them to the title.
