'Exceptional': Some Arsenal fans think they've got a truly 'phenomenal' player in their ranks
A number of Arsenal fans have lauded Calum Chambers for how well he’s done for the Gunners in the latter stages of the season, and are looking forward to what he has in store next term.
The 26-year-old joined the Gunners from Southampton in 2016, making the move for a reported £16million, and has made 117 appearances for the club.
Chambers missed out on the whole of 2020 due to a cruciate ligament injury, which came just as he was getting his Gunners career back on track.
Indeed, he became somewhat of a forgotten figure at the Emirates, and was even linked with a January exit.
However, Chambers has won his place back in Arteta’s XI, featuring in 10 of Arsenal’s last 12 Premier League games of the season, and has leapfrogged Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares at right-back.
The Gunners defender has taken to Twitter with an end-of-season message for the fans, and plenty responded with kind words:
Chambers’ Arsenal contract expires at the end of next season, but according to football.london, the north Londoners will be offering him an extension.
