‘Excellent’ Arsenal star is finding football ‘too easy’ at the moment, according to Troy Deeney

Arsenal have made a good start to the Premier League season, with some impressive results launching them to the top of the table.

The Gunners have faced off with some tricky teams so far, including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle and more.

However, under the guiding hand of Mikel Arteta, the North London side have managed to navigate their way through it.

Now, they aim to create a gap at the top of the Premier League table to ensure that Arsenal lift the title at the end of the season.

One star in the team is doing his utmost to ensure that happens, with Troy Deeney pouring praise on him for his recent displays.

Troy Deeney praises Declan Rice after Arsenal win over West Ham

Arsenal star Declan Rice has been at the centre of everything good that has happened for the club over the past few seasons.

Costing a club-record £105 million, the midfielder hasn’t let that price tag weigh him down as he consistently puts in performances that get the team points.

Another top display saw Rice score against his former club West Ham, getting Arsenal up and running in a game that ended 2-0 to the Gunners.

While his goal was useful, it was his all-round play that continues to grab valuable wins for the team, as explained by Troy Deeney.

The former Premier League striker picked Rice in his midfield for BBC Sport’s Team of the Week, and said: “Great goal for Arsenal against his old club. Gets his finish and drives the team forward, but I think – and this is a compliment – that he can do more.

“Strange to say for someone worth £100 million but it looks like football is starting to become too easy for him.

“Arsenal will need him not only in the Premier League but the Champions League as well. Excellent performance.”

The full versatility of Rice was on display in the encounter, as he started as the deepest midfielder and then moved forward once Martin Odegaard came off injured.

He wasn’t the only Arsenal star who made an impression, however.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes also enter Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week

Rice managed to get his way into the Team of the Week, and he was joined by fellow Arsenal stars William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

The centre-back duo have been solid ever since they partnered together at the back, helping the side concede just three goals in the division so far this season.

On the duo’s inclusion, Deeney added: “They’ve got another clean sheet and gone to the top of the league. They just get the job done.

“They were excellent against West Ham. They’re a threat from set-pieces, back themselves one on one and have got that aura now where people are looking at them in the tunnel thinking ‘this is going to be a long day’.”

It’s that solid spine which is delivering success for Arsenal, and will continue to do so for the weeks and months ahead.
