‘Excellent’ £20m Arsenal player could be back for West Ham game on Sunday

If the mood wasn’t already good enough, Mikel Arteta may now welcome an important Arsenal player back for West Ham United on Sunday.

Arteta oversaw a quite brilliant win against Liverpool last night, one that will lift the entire Arsenal squad.

Perhaps the result was even more satisfying considering Arsenal were once again missing key players.

Thomas Partey’s return was supposed to be imminent, only for him to suffer another injury set-back.

And typical to his time at Arsenal so far, Gabriel Jesus has also suffered another blow.

If the duo were fit, they’re undisputed starters, but it was two of their replacements who thrived last night.

Gary Neville hailed Jorginho’s ‘beautiful’ passing in the middle of the pitch, sitting as Arsenal’s pivot.

Moreover, Kai Havertz also enjoyed a brilliant 90 minutes as Arsenal’s number nine – a performance celebrated by Arteta.

But with injured players on the mind, one return could now prove very timely.

Mikel Arteta could have Takehiro Tomiyasu back for Arsenal before West Ham trip

With Oleksandr Zinchenko leaving the field with a calf injury yesterday, journalist Charles Watts’ news that Takehiro Tomiyasu should be back this weekend will be very welcome.

Japan were eliminated from the Asian Cup by Iran on Saturday, meaning Tomiyasu will now return to Arsenal.

And when speaking on YouTube, Watts was fairly confident the timing could work out nicely.

Watts said: “The good thing is, if Zinchenko is out for any sort of period of time now with his calf injury, the good news is Tomiyasu should be available for the game against West Ham having now come back from the Asian Cup after Japan were knocked out.”

Of course, this won’t just be good news for Arteta with West Ham in mind this weekend, but it will prove a big boost for all the remaining games.

Tomiyasu has often joined both Partey and Jesus on the injury table this season and last, but has been ‘excellent’ when available.

His versatility has been sorely missed, especially with Jurrien Timber out for almost all of the season.

And there’s merit to think Arteta could start £20m-signing Tomiyasu straight away when Arsenal face West Ham this weekend.
