Arsenal have been linked with Sacha Boey in recent months and speculation is doing the rounds again ahead of the January transfer window.

For instance, Turkish outlet Sporx recently claimed that the Gunners were in attendance to see the Galatasaray man play against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The defender is ‘once again admired’ by Arsenal, added the report.

The Gunners are apparently expected to knock on the Istanbul club’s door with a €20m (around £17million) offer in January.

Boey recently provided an exclusive interview to Carre in France, when he was quizzed on the subject of a potential departure from Galatasaray.

The 23-year-old admitted that there was contact over a potential summer move to Arsenal, though he stressed that no offer was made at the time.

”I had contacts with various clubs,” said Boey. “These clubs also contacted Galatasaray. “There were opportunities for me to go to the Premier League.

“There were some meetings between Galatasaray administrators and Arsenal officials, there was an interest, but there was no official offer.”

Sacha Boey ticks many Arsenal boxes

Jurrien Timber’s long-term injury has meant that Arsenal have just Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu at right-back.

With that in mind, the Gunners could well look to bolster their ranks in January, and Boey would be a good shout in terms of talent, potential, and value for money.

In summer, Charles Watts of Goal.com wrote an in-depth scouting report on the Frenchman amid links with Arsenal at the time.

An excerpt reads: “Boey is known for his ability in one-on-one situations.

“He is excellent when it comes to winning his duels and the rapid recovery pace he possesses means he can recover exceptionally whenever a winger does manage to get the better of him.

“He is physically strong and good in the air, while he also reads the game well and likes to get forward on the overlap.

“He’s very much out of the traditional full-back mould. Someone who will look to hug the touchline when attacking and get down to the byline before putting a ball in.

“He certainly has all the attributes of a player who could succeed in the Premier League.”

Whether £17million will be enough to sign him remains to be seen, but either way, as a starting point, it’s not bad.
