Robert Huth

Robert Huth is the only one in my list of successes that is currently playing in the Premier League. He has represented four different clubs and is currently enjoying life at the top end of the Premier League table with Leicester City. His first appearance in the Premier League came for Chelsea as a half-time substitute for Graeme Le Saux in a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on May 11 2002.

Huth’s 277 appearances in the Premier League make him the top of this category out of all the Germans who have plied their trade in the division. Huth already has two Premier League winner’s medals to his name from his time with Chelsea and Leicester fans will be hoping he can add a third with Leicester this season. As a stalwart of The Foxes’ back-line, this potential third medal would likely be seen as his greatest ever achievement.

The majority of his Premier League career has been spent playing for teams that are in mid-table or even struggling against relegation. He suffered relegation with Middlesbrough and when he joined Leicester on a loan deal from Stoke just under a year ago, they were staring at a season in the Championship straight in the face. The signing of Huth has been mentioned by some as having a big impact of Leicester’s survival last season and the continuation of his high quality displays this campaign have gone some way to justifying this opinion.
