Liverpool should move for David Alaba this summer, according to Optus Sport pundit John Aloisi.
The Austria international is contracted to Bayern Munich until the end of the season and will almost certainly be playing his football elsewhere afterwards.
As a result, he will be highly sought after by a lot of clubs eager to snap up one of the best defenders in world football for nothing.

Liverpool, who have had their fair share of defensive issues this season, have been linked with Alaba over the past few weeks.
According to The Independent, Liverpool held talks with the 28-year-old’s camp, in part for comparative purposes whilst working on the Thiago Alcantara deal.
While links between Liverpool and Alaba currently seem speculative at most, rather than anything more concrete, Aloisi thinks he’d be just what the Reds need.
“For next season, I would go and sign (David) Alaba from Bayern Munich,” Aloisi told Optus Sport.
“He is going to be on a free, I’m not sure if he’s already agreed with Real Madrid, what a player he is.
“He is exactly what they need in terms of that centre-back, left-footed, can defend forward, when there’s space in behind he is so quick he can get back in.
“The only downside of that is, do you want to play with two left-sided centre-backs with Van Dijk?”
TBR View:
Alaba is a player of the highest calibre who would strengthen any back line in the world and could be available for free.
However, this means there will likely be a huge bidding war amongst the world’s top clubs in terms of contracts and sign-on fees offered.
According to ESPN, Alaba’s representatives have been in talks with Real Madrid and a four-year contract worth almost £400,000-a-week is close to being agreed.
Other interested clubs have reportedly been told they will need to match that figure to enter the running – will any other club be able (or indeed willing) to afford such a deal at present?
