Ex-PL star Steven Defour makes big Noa Lang claim amid Leeds links
Leeds United have been linked with a forward this week who has now been labelled the best player in his league by a former Belgium international.
The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that the Whites are one of several clubs chasing Noa Lang. The 21-year-old joined Club Brugge on loan from Ajax last summer.
The Telegraph claims that the Belgians had the option to make his move permanent and he has indeed agreed a contract until 2024. However, that may not stop Lang moving elsewhere this summer.
According to the report, Leeds are keen on the £20 million-rated attacker, who has scored 16 goals and contributed 10 assists in all competitions.
And Marcelo Bielsa’s men may have received further reason to be encouraged about Lang.
Steven Defour is someone who knows about playing in the Premier League. The 33-year-old spent three years with Burnley earlier in his career.
The 52-cap international is now back in his home country with Mechelen. And he outlined to Sporza just how impressed he has been by Lang this year.
“I think Lang is the best player in the league this season,” he told Sporza. “I also voted for him as Professional Footballer of the Year.”
Defour has played alongside some incredible players during his career – including a number of outstanding Premier League stars at international level.
So for the midfielder to be so impressed with Lang arguably says a lot. And given his age, there is reason to think that he is only going to get considerably better.
