Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is confident Harry Kane will remain at the club beyond this summer despite rumours of the England captain looking for the exit.

Speaking to Goal, the ex-Portsmouth man voiced his certainty on the Spurs striker remaining in north London ahead of the transfer window, with rumours flying around that Kane could be on the way out of his boyhood club, as reported by The Athletic, after establishing himself as one of the team’s best players in the Premier League era.

Kane started for Spurs yesterday in their 1-0 League Cup final loss to Manchester City, the third cup final the 27-year-old has lost during his time with Spurs, with his lack of silverware in his career a sticking point as to why the attacker could leave Tottenham this summer.

Yet for Redknapp, he is confident the Spurs man will remain this summer, with the former Tottenham boss saying: “I think he’ll stay. I think the new manager will come in and convince him that they’ll be having a go and signing a few more players.

“There’s nobody better than him. I wouldn’t swap him for any centre-forward in the world, personally. He would guarantee Man City, Man Utd or Liverpool winning the league next season, for sure. He’s a fantastic player. Tottenham have to keep him.”

TBR View: Kane needs to move on for the betterment of his career

In a dream world, Kane remains at Tottenham beyond this summer and plays out the peak years of his career for the club he came through the ranks of and tries to guide them to the elusive piece of silverware Spurs so desperately crave.

Yet this is reality, and although Kane could easily make a case for himself as one of the best strikers in world football, the England attacker is simply not going to find success in his career if he remains at Tottenham for the next two to three years.

Kane has done everything he can to help Tottenham win silverware, but with another losers medal from another cup final, the striker should be considering his options when the summer window opens for business.
