‘Everyone loves him’: Gabriel Martinelli says 25-year-old is already like another captain in the Arsenal dressing room

Gabriel Martinelli has told Hayters TV that Gabriel Jesus is already like another captain in the Arsenal dressing room.

Jesus only made the switch to Arsenal from Manchester City over the summer but has already made a huge impact in north London.

The 25-year-old has provided Mikel Arteta with real quality up-front and is bringing the best out of both Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

But it isn’t just his performances that are impacting the Gunners squad as he’s apparently become a prominent figure in the dressing room already.

Martinelli says Jesus is like another captain

Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash with FC Zurich, Martinelli revealed that Jesus is like another captain at Arsenal.

The Brazilian was responding to Jesus recently labelling him and Saka as ‘machines’.

“I think because of him, he makes our job a lot easier,” Martinelli told Hayters TV.

“He always tries to give advice to us, he’s still [only] 25 but he’s an experienced player. He’s a very good guy and one of the captains as well.

“I think everyone knows how much he brings to the team. Everyone loves him.”

Martin Odegaard currently wears the armband at Arsenal and has taken to the role brilliantly.

But it’s certainly helpful for the young Gunners side to have someone like Jesus around the place. The Brazilian has lifted the Premier League title four times with City and can only be a positive influence on the squad.

Jesus sets the tone for the Arsenal side with his relentless pressing from the front and it’s no surprise to hear that his attitude is rubbing off on other players.

The Gunners face an important Europa League game tonight as they need to beat FC Zurich to ensure they top their group.

Arteta will undoubtedly have one eye on Sunday’s clash with Chelsea though and he may be tempted to rest his key players, including Jesus.
