Celtic lost out at Parkhead as Rangers took all three points in the Glasgow derby this afternoon.

The home side couldn’t find a way to get in front despite equalising before half-time. Indeed, a second-half header from Nikola Katic ensured the Gers took away the win.

Defeat for Celtic means the title race is now wide open as Steven Gerrard’s men look to wrestle it back from the grasp of the Bhoys. Rangers now sit just two points behind Neil Lennon’s men, with a crucial game in hand as well.

Despite the obvious joy of Rangers fans at the final whistle, it was clear the home crowd was more than disappointed with their team’s efforts.

Boos rang out following six minutes of injury time while Steven Gerrard celebrated wildly with his team.

The Celtic fans were unhappy on social media in the immediate aftermath too. Twitter was awash with negative comments from their fans, with plenty of supporters calling out certain players for poor displays.

In fact, the entire team wasn’t clear of criticism as the Celtic fans had their say on the performance.

This was a fully deserved win for Rangers. They were better from the off and anything other than three points would have felt harsh on them.

Steven Gerrard celebrated wildly, and rightly so.

Neil Lennon, however, has some thinking to do. His Celtic team were not at the races and were second best throughout.

Rangers are now well and truly in the hunt and will fancy their chances of winning the title. Of course, there is a long way to go and the loss of Morelos again won’t help matters.

However, you can’t help but feel Rangers took a giant step at Celtic’s expense today.
