'Better than Klich or Dallas': Some Leeds fans beg Bielsa to fast-track 18-year-old
Leeds United academy talent Lewis Bate continues to stake a claim for a first-team spot.
The 18-year-old is putting in some incredible performances for the Whites at Under-23 level.
Indeed, calls for him to be included in one of Marcelo Bielsa’s squads are growing ever louder.
There are some wonderful talents coming through the ranks at Thorp Arch, such as Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood.
And Bate, a tenacious midfielder who joined Leeds from Chelsea’s academy this summer, is a great shout to be in amongst those names too.
On Friday, Mark Jackson’s charges were in Premier League 2 action away at Leicester.
The team lacked Gelhardt, Summerville and Greenwood, suggesting they’ll be in contention for a matchday squad spot against Watford.
Despite Leeds losing 1-0 to the Foxes, Bate stood out once again for his side.
He pulled the strings in midfield, showcased some great passing and covering every blade of grass on the pitch.
Here is what some Leeds fans made of the teenager’s display:
Lewis Bate looks every bit ready for the 1st team and Mcgurk will grow into a very special player as well. But I can see bate coming into the 1st team very soon!! What a player!! #LUFC— Baz (@Bazmundinha) October 1, 2021
Lewis Bate will be playing for England within 2 years #lufc— bielsa's high press (@russianbot3004) October 1, 2021
Watching Leeds U23’s. Lewis Bate needs to be involved with the first team sooner rather than later.— Martin Collinson (@LUFC_Arizona) October 1, 2021
Bate oozes class. He plays in at least 10 first team games by the end of next season #lufc— Kris Hilliam (@FootyAnalyKris) October 1, 2021
Bate is running the game. Quality.— Martin Collinson (@LUFC_Arizona) October 1, 2021
Just watched the first half of our u23’s. No idea how it’s still 0-0, really good game. Lewis Bate needs putting in our first team, he’s got a fantastic football brain, great range of passing and a really good engine. Better than Klich or Dallas at CM for me. #lufc #mot— Andrew Hobson (@ahobbo1982) October 1, 2021
Would be shocked if Lewis Bate doesn’t see some first team minutes this season. What a player 👏 #lufc— ghoods 💙💛 (@Girhodes5) October 1, 2021
I think like Cresswell, he is ready to play in the first team. He’s pointing and talking all the way through the first half. He knows his stuff. Looks very comfortable on the ball and his passing is class.— Andrew Hobson (@ahobbo1982) October 1, 2021
speaks volumes that Leicester were basically man marking Bate at times in that second half, and he still managed to dominate the game.— bielsa's high press (@russianbot3004) October 1, 2021
can't be far from a prem appearance now #lufc https://t.co/N5IyYccGrI
