Everton are again being mentioned as a potential location for James Rodriguez in the summer. El Desmarque is reporting that Everton are one of a number of teams interested in signing the player, valued at around €80 million (£70.1m) by Real Madrid.
It would see the Colombian star reunite with Carlo Ancelotti after spells at Real and Bayern Munich with the Italian.
It would also fit a recent pattern when it comes to Everton’s transfer strategy.
Whilst many expected the arrival of Marcel Brands to see Everton signing young talent for development, as he did with PSV, it has largely been a different method since the Dutchman arrived at Goodison Park.

Instead, Everton have often targeted high-calibre talent currently on the fringes at ‘elite’ level clubs, basically those in Champions League contention.
Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, and Yerry Mina all arrived from Barcelona. Fabian Delph joined from Manchester City. Moise Kean was snapped up from Juventus. Even Djibril Sidibe and Alex Iwobi could fall into this category following their respected arrivals from Monaco and Arsenal.
Rodriguez would follow the same pattern that Everton appear to be approaching, so perhaps there are legs in this transfer rumour after all.
