Everton are on the right track under Marco Silva and there is reason for optimism for the club’s fans if they look beyond the current crop.

The likes of Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin head up the host of young stars who are adding their energy and tenacity to Silva’s squad.

They will form the bedrock of the Toffees’ side for years to come, but beyond that, the Under 23s side and the Under 18s side are top of their respective leagues.

Looking around the Premier League, there aren’t many sides who can boast such a strong youthful influence on their first-team, with another promising crop coming just behind.

Keeping David Unsworth involved with the young players and not jettisoning him after an unsuccessful short period as manager.

Silva has embraced the young players at Everton and for as long as the Portuguese is at the club, he will continue to turn to the academy to supplement his squad.

It is difficult to see Sam Allardyce utilising the young players or furthering their development in the same way; he wasn’t even keen on Ademola Lookman moving to Germany, a career move that has worked so well for Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson.
