Everton have made an approach for Paris Saint Germain’s Belgian international defender Thomas Meunier over a summer move, as per French outlet Le 10 Sport.
The 27-year-old has less than 18 months left on his current deal and Everton have reportedly tried to steal a march in the chase to sign him during the summer window.
Everton need a right-back because Seamus Coleman has been off the boil so far this season but the swoop does not bode particularly well for the prospects of Mason Holgate.
The academy graduate is currently on loan at West Brom, where he has been impressing at right-back, but the fact that Everton have already made a swoop for such an established option in that position suggests that might not be enough to save his Goodison Park career.

The Liverpool Echo reported this week that Holgate may have performed well enough so far at the Hawthorns to prolong his Everton career.
But even if he returned to Goodison, he would find himself behind two international options if Meunier signs. If Coleman is the one to leave, it would be a major show of faith in Holgate, but he may need to show more than just some impressive displays at Championship level to dislodge a Champions League-standard new signing.
