Everton defender Mason Holgate is wanted by three Premier League clubs ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to the Sun.
They report that Burnley, Bournemouth and Sheffield United are all interested in the 22-year-old, with the impending deal to take Harry Maguire to Manchester United having an impact.
The Clarets are apparently fearing that the Foxes will come for James Tarkowski to replace Maguire, with the Cherries braced for interest in Nathan Ake.
Meanwhile, the newly-promoted Blades have already signed former Everton captain Phil Jagielka and want Holgate to join his former team-mate at Bramall Lane in a deal that would reportedly be worth £10 million.
Everton look slightly light at centre half at the moment, having been so far unable to get last season’s loanee Kurt Zouma back to Goodison Park.
Holgate would offer useful cover to Michael Keane and Yerry Mina, having impressed out on loan at West Brom in the second half of last term.
In a climate where Maguire is set to set a world record fee, perhaps Everton should be asking for more than £10 million from top flight clubs given the proximity to the end of the window as well as taking into account that Holgate is a promising, English defender.
Everton would need to enter the market for a replacement on top of all their other business, and Holgate would also be a useful option at right back going into the new term too.
