Everton’s forgotten man Brendan Galloway might be set for one last chance at Goodison Park

Everton could be short at left-back when they face Wolves at Goodison Park at the weekend. Leighton Baines limped out of action against Huddersfield yesterday. His replacement Lucas Digne completed his woeful week by picking up a red card.

Everton, therefore, have their two first-choice left-backs out of action. Kurt Zouma can operate in the role whilst Jonjoe Kenny would undoubtedly relish the first-team chance.

However, Everton might want to consider giving a long-forgotten talent one last chance to shine at Goodison Park.

Brendan Galloway looked like becoming a first-team feature when he first burst onto the scene in 2015. He was handed a new contract until 2020 as a consequence of his brilliant performances.

However, poor loan spells at West Brom and Sunderland, managerial upheaval at Everton and some niggling injuries have halted his progress.

But in recent weeks he has been a regular feature for David Unsworth’s under-23 side, who look likely to win the Premier League 2 title on current form. His performances have been excellent and Everton followers have been impressed by his attitude and application.

Galloway has massive potential. He made his professional debut for MK Dons aged 15 and was considered as bright a prospect as former team-mate Dele Alli. As reported by NSNO, Everton put together a £4 million package to sign him in 2014.

Circumstances have prevented him from showing that talent. Now, aged 22 and with 18 months left on his contract, he could be about to give Everton boss Marco Silva something to think about regarding his long-term future.

This could be last-chance saloon for the Zimbabwe-born defender. Hopefully, he gets a chance to remind Everton why he was so highly rated just a few seasons ago.
