In the summer it seemed as though Everton were all set to sign talented Argentine youngster Santiago Sosa from River Plate.
As reported by Ole, Everton had agreed a £13 million fee for the Argentina under-20 international and a deal seemed to be in the offing.
However, the deal seemed to continually sit in limbo.
In the end, it was confirmed that the deal was off. As reported by La Pagina Millonaria, his UK work permit application had been denied and an attempt to earn an EU passport through heritage had failed.

With little chance of him being awarded a contract, Everton pulled out of any deal.
But based on his current status, Everton should not feel overly concerned.
Sosa has struggled to find regular football with River Plate this season. With the likes of Enzo Perez, Exequiel Palacios, and Bruno Zuculini ahead of him in the pecking order, Sosa has only featured in two games for River this season so far.
Everton will likely continue to monitor the talented Argentine over the next few months or even years. But for now, it will be hard to actually see him in action.
