Everton beat Watford 2-0 to move into the last eight of the Carabao Cup.

Second half goals from Mason Holgate and Richarlison were enough to see off the challenge from the Hornets, and the pressure has been relieved a little on manager Marco Silva.

That said, some were still unhappy with certain calls made by the Portuguese on the night, including the decision to hook youngster Moise Kean at half-time.

One thing he appeared to get right though, was playing Alex Iwobi in the number 10 role, a position he has featured in a few times now in the past few weeks.

The summer signing from Arsenal – whose total cost could eventually reach £34 million (BBC Sport) – looked very comfortable in behind the main striker.

The shackles appear to come off for the Nigerian when he is in a central role and has the freedom to move wherever.

He would often run into trouble and produce a poor final ball for the Gunners, leading to criticism and frustration from fans.

As a number 10 for Everton, Iwobi has looked much more at ease on the pitch and appears to relish the freedom to operate between the lines.

With more options around him, he has a greater conviction in his passing and his pace allows him to burst away from people.
