Young Everton central defender Joe Anderson has signed his first professional deal at Goodison Park, as confirmed by the club’s official website.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal and will move into the club’s under 23 side for the forthcoming campaign.
He said: “To sign a professional deal for such a big club, you can’t ask for any more.. It was what I’ve dreamed of as a kid. My game has come on a lot since I joined Everton.
“At every level you are challenged, there is healthy competition for places and it improves you, because every player is giving it everything. I want to have a solid pre-season and, when I get a chance to play, to show what I can do.”

Anderson took to Twitter after signing the deal to write on his official account: “Delighted to have signed my first professional contract at Everton. Proud day for me and my family, looking forward to the new season.”
But the Mayor of Liverpool is also called Joe Anderson and lots of Toffees supporters took to Twitter to point that out in the replies – all making a variation on the same joke…
